Funeral Serices of Prominent Resident
of Galva Were Held Today--Was an Old Soldier.
The funeral services of Captain Alex W. Albo of Galva were held in the Methodist church of that place this afternoon. They were in charge of Rev. R. E. Smith and Rev. Alex Smith, the latter of Kewanee. Captain Albro died Friday night and was one of the bst known citizens of Galva. He has resided there over half a century. He has filled numerous offices and was one of the incorporators an directors of the First National bank of Gala.
He was eighty-three years old, and came in 1836 with his parents to Lynn township, Knox county. His father as a soldier of the wr of 1812. The captain moved to Galva in 1855.
Captain Albro enlisted in Cimpany G. 112th Illinois as a private, but was afterwards elected captain. He served two years, resigning on account of the death of two of his children. He had long been an interested worker in the loal post of the G.A.R. Mr. Alvro and Miss Emil Spalding were united in marriage in 1846. Of four children born to them, two are dead. Those surviving with the bereaved wife re Mrs. Esther Ann Babbitt of Cretna, Neb., and Mrs Hattie Beadle, also of Nebraska.
